Several budding artists who showcased their works at the TotalEnergies Open House Art Exhibition extolled the company for encouraging them to showcase their talent. The three-day show, which attracted scores of visitors from far and near, was applauded by the participants for promoting sustainability and wealth creation through youth empowerment. Held at the Eko Tower 2 facility of TotalEnergies in Victoria Island, Lagos, from November 30 to December 2, 2023, the exhibition featured an open display of various the creative works of the artists and discussion sessions where the artists told the story of the inspiration behind their work. There was also a painting session for children and art classes for staff and family members to experiment with creative ideas. Flagging off the colourful exhibition, Deputy Managing Director of DeepWater Assets, Mr. Victor Bandele, described art as food for the soul, adding that such events help the mind to relax and connect with the human depth. Acting General Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, Mrs. Tonye Osifo, who cut the ribbon during the opening ceremony, said that the event was organised by TotalEnergies to provide a platform for young Nigerians to sell their artistic talent to the world. Three sustainability artists took part in the event, and they include Konboye Ebipade Eugene, who uses discarded footwear and flip-flops for his work; Olanrewaju Tejuoso, skilled in using soft plastics, copper wire, and staple pins to express his artistic genius; and Ozuma Patrick Chidiebube, who uses computer keys, binding wire, and metal plates to create adorable works of art. Ten students from each of the University of Lagos and Yaba College of Technology also participated in the event.
