TotalEnergies Urges Global Outlook among Indigenous Operators at NOG Energy Week 2026
TotalEnergies has urged local operators and service providers in Nigeria’s energy industry to adopt a global outlook to enhance competitiveness, create higher value and support sustainable growth across the sector while retaining their local content values.
Speaking during the Nigerian Content Seminar at the 2026 Nigeria Oil & Gas (NOG) Energy Week Conference and Exhibition on Monday, July 6, 2026 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, the Manager, Nigerian Content Operations Monitoring at TotalEnergies EP Nigeria, Achese Amadi, said Nigeria’s local content success story should evolve into regional and international competitiveness.
Addressing the panel session titled “Offshore Frontiers & Local Content: Nurturing Local Capacity to Support Production Growth,” Mr Amadi acknowledged the progress recorded across the industry since the enactment of the NOGICD Act in 2010 and encouraged service companies to broaden their ambitions by building local and regional partnerships to enhance competitiveness.
“The industry needs to have the mentality that while it is local content-driven, it must also have a global outlook. Once service providers adopt this mindset, they can expand across the region and deliver greater value to the country,” he said.
Mr Amadi reaffirmed TotalEnergies’ commitment to fostering partnerships, technology adoption and capacity development.
“TotalEnergies continues to encourage partnerships and technology-sharing in the industry. Today, many indigenous service providers are doing well. The NCDMB and government have provided an enabling environment, and service providers must continue to improve themselves. Our industry evolves rapidly, and all players should endeavour to keep pace with technological advancements and global best practices,” he stated.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest safety and quality standards while encouraging continuous stakeholder engagement and feedback.
Referencing the Egina project, Mr Amadi urged stakeholders to assess the long-term impact of investments made under the Nigerian Content framework.
“Ten years after Egina, we need to evaluate the value created by investments made in-country and identify opportunities to strengthen the sustainability of local capacity development,” he said.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by Director of Capacity Building, Abayomi Bamidele, highlighted key achievements recorded by the Board and announced plans to streamline approvals involving NIPEX, NCDMB and NUPRC by the third quarter of 2026.
The Nigeria Content Seminar also featured an exhibition tour led by NNPC Limited’s Executive Vice President, Upstream, Udobong Ntia, representing Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari. The delegation was received at the TotalEnergies exhibition booth by management staff led by Ogogome Ekpecham, General Manager, Assets Operated by Others (AOBO).
The 25th edition of NOG Energy Week runs from July 6 to 9, 2026 and continues to provide a leading platform for industry leaders, policymakers and investors to advance Nigeria’s energy growth and development agenda.
